At approximately 8:37 am the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a vehicle located in a Canal at the end of North Avenue in Lehigh Acres. The vehicle was identified as a 2008 silver Dodge Caliber which was submerged with just the roof showing.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded and assisted in securing the vehicle.
Due to the nature of the incident Lee County Sheriff’s Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed on February 4, 2016 between 9 and 10 pm, the 2008 Dodge Caliber was traveling south on North Avenue, left the roadway, and entered the canal. There are no indications of any other vehicles involved and at this time and the incident is being investigated as a traffic crash.
Located in the vehicle were husband and wife, Marie A. Oszust DOB 05-02-1952, and Chester G. Oszust DOB 10-13-1952 both of Lehigh Acres.
The deceased were turned over to the Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office. This
remains an active investigation by the LCSO Traffic Homicide Unit.
