Sale of Lehigh Regional: Community Health Systems, the Tennessee-based owner of Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, initially announced that it would finalize the sale of the 88-bed hospital to a California-based buyer before the end of the year. But in December, those close to the negotiations said it could not finalize the deal until the first quarter of 2016. The buyer, Prime Healthcare Services Inc., has promised to hire “substantially all” existing employees but revealed little else about its plans for the financially struggling hospital. Prime advertises itself as a company that helps turn around troubled health care organizations. We’ll get an idea of what that means in the coming 12 months.
