Personal Identity at Risk After Misplaced Ids During Trip To Hospital Visit

A Lehigh Acres woman, Patricia Dailey is worried her identity is at risk after all of her sensitive ID-related documents went missing by someone.

Dailey hasn’t been well lately. It started with congestive heart failure, but when she got pneumonia earlier this month, things got bad.

Dailey said, the two together made it impossible to breathe.

So she called 911, and a Lehigh Acres Fire and Rescue District rushed her off to the hospital. But first, her husband sealed her ID and insurance information in a Ziplock bag and said they passed it to the Lehigh Acres paramedics.

By the time she reached Gulf Coast Medical Center, she claims it was gone.

“I’m sure they ask for ID,” she said. “[The paramedic] went back to the ambulance and got it and brought it to the charge nurse.”

Days in the hospital and Dailey said the staff hasn’t been able to track it down.

Lee Memorial Health System issued a statement saying:

“We have been working closely with the patient and her family to resolve the issue of the lost identification cards. After reviewing security video footage, we are unable to verify that Lee Memorial Health System was ever in possession of the bag containing the patient’s identification cards. After an extensive search, the missing documents have not been found. Our investigation is still in process, and we will follow up with the patient when it concludes. As a point of community education, we encourage patients to bring to the hospital only the necessary identification – your insurance cards and a photo ID.”

Dailey filed a report with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and is now working on replacing her cards.

When the Lehigh Acres Gazette reached out to Chief John Wayne, they will not release the names paramedics on duty that day citing the HIPPA laws.

Since this article releases the patience name and want she was taken to the hospital for there is no reason why the Lehigh Acres Fire and Rescue District the employees names.

So took Patricia Dailey her sensitive ID-related documents? We will never no but someone does!
