LCSO Deputies Seek Information in Serious Hit and Run Accident

On Sunday, January 17, 2016 at approximately 12:16 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office East District patrol unit responded to a reported medical assistance call at 4868 29th Street SW, Lehigh Acres.  Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim rolling around on a grass verge in obvious pain.  The victim was wearing all black clothing and the road had dimly illuminated street lights, making it quite dark in the area.  Lee County Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and immediately transported the victim to a hospital for treatment.

Deputies determined that the victim had suffered severe road rash and had likely been struck by a vehicle and that the vehicle had fled the scene without rendering aid.  Witnesses say they were travelling on 29th Street SW when they found the victim lying on the shoulder of the road with a serious head injury.  A second witness stated that a box truck was stopped in the roadway about 10 to 15 minutes before the victim was discovered.

If you know anything about this serious accident or have any information about the possible box truck or suspect vehicle, you are asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000.
