59th Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science & Engineering Fair Winners Announced

Winners of this year’s Thomas Alva Edison Science and Engineering Fair were announced at a ceremony at Alico Arena.

More than 200 judges worked Saturday to evaluate students’ entries in the two, separate competitions: the inventor fair for student’s kindergarten through 12th grade, and the larger science and engineering fair, for student’s sixth grade and up.

About 230 students were judged within their divisions (middle and high school) as well as across the board for the ultimate “best in fair” award. Students also won prizes in the special category awards, which are created and judged by event sponsors.

The Grand Award winners, who have been selected to represent Southwest Florida in the state science fair, are listed below:

  • Grand Award Winners – limited to the 30 students selected to compete at State Science Fair, all of whom received academic scholarships to FGCU (scholarship value of $2,500 each or $75,000 total); the top four (4) senior division projects go on to International Science Fair. (Also included in this spreadsheet is the scholarship winner from the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, valued at $4000.)
