Gas prices appear to be the gift that keeps on giving, even as the Christmas season ends and America drives toward the New Year.
Today’s national average for regular unleaded gasoline is under $2 per gallon, coming in at $1.999, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
Lee County, listed as Fort Myers-Cape Coral on the report, is even lower for that grade: it is $1.982 per gallon, while it was $2.46 a gallon a year ago.
Among the cheapest prices locally today, according to GasBuddy.com is $1.89 per gallon at the Speedway and Murphy USA.
Florida’s average for regular unleaded is a tick higher, at $2.007 per gallon.
