Clawson Announces 2016 United States Service Academy Nominations

Congressman Curt Clawson (FL -19) nominated twenty-two students from Southwest Florida’s 19^th Congressional District to attend the United States Service Academies for the fall 2016 freshman class.

U.S. Service Academies include:  The United States Air Force Academy – Colorado Springs, Colorado; The United States Military Academy  – West Point, New York; The United States Naval Academy – Annapolis, Maryland; and The United States Merchant Marine Academy – Kings Point, New York.

Clawson stated:

“As the second class of nominees I have had the honor of reviewing, I continue to be honored and impressed that these fine students would not only prepare themselves for the challenges that lie ahead of them if they are accepted, but that they would also give themselves to serve our nation and defend our freedom.  The academies will be tough and demanding, and my Academy Nominations Advisory Committee feels strongly that all of our nominees are up to the challenge.   I join the Committee with pride to assist our nominees during the next phase of the admission process.

“I am also humbled by the members of the Academy Nominations Advisory Committee, led by Lieutenant General (Retired) Gary Speer and Major General (Retired) James Dozier, for donating their time and years of experience in service to their community to help me create a process to put the best Southwest Florida has to offer before the consideration of our nation’s Service Academies.”
