Methadone Treatment
Center Coming To Lehigh Acres

According to Lee County permits, Colonial Management Group, LP (CMG) which owns Metro Treatment of Florida, L.P. is remodeling 1415 Homestead Rd N (across the street from Coldwell Banker Real Estate Office) into a Methadone Treatment Center.

Colonial Management Group, LP (CMG) is a unique organization of sixty-four (64) private outpatient substance abuse treatment clinics that have been successfully treating opiate dependence since 1986 and dedicated to helping these individuals and their families regain control of their lives

CMG operates as outpatient clinics specifically designed for persons addicted to the opioid class of drugs, including prescription pain medications and heroin. Patients are enrolled into a comprehensive program, which includes individual and group counseling to address psychological and social needs in addition to their chemical dependence.

We tried to reach to CMG leadership but no one wanted to comment about the new center in Lehigh Acres.

According to CMG website, CMG is looking to fill two positions ASAP a Consulting Pharmacist and a Program Director.

  1. Ed & Betty now you know they always throw what no other town wants, Ft. Myers, Cape,Naples, & then wonder why Lehigh is #3 for the worse city to live in!! It makes me sick!

    1. I am with you Shirley. So tired of Lehigh getting the shaft on everything and no say so about anything!

  2. Now we know why the owners didn’t want to share their identity. This is the last thing we need! What exactly was going to go in this location was a secret because they knew citizens wouldn’t approve. And right in town why couldn’t they of at least made it out in the middle of no where. How is Lehigh suppose to grow and get better when we always have people knocking us down. Bad enough our tax money isn’t spent here and then we have the Fire Department to also deal with taking our money and doing unethical things. So tired of these officials not doing their jobs and just taking taking taking!

  3. Actually, Naples and Fort Myers already have methadone treatment centers. The clinic in Naples is run by the company opening the new one in Lehigh. Methadone treatment can be very successful for opioid addiction, I know because I’ve worked at the Naples location for over 1 year and seen it. Our entire staff takes great pride in helping people that require it. How it works: Methadone takes away the withdrawal symptoms and cravings of drugs like heroin (it does nothing for cocaine, xanax, or crystal meth addictions). Withdrawal symptoms, if a person quits “cold turkey”, can last for months. Because of this fact, it is difficult for people to do. I think of methadone as a band-aid. It is used to take away the feeling of withdrawal and allows people to seek counseling (which is provided by the counselors at the clinic) to work through the reason WHY the patient uses drugs, work on eliminating drug seeking behaviors and triggers, get a job, improve their family relationships, and much more. When the person is comfortable that they could manage their lives with out drugs, the medical staff slowly lowers their dose of methadone until they are off the medication.
The clinic in Naples is located in a busy strip mall, we rarely have complaints about our clients from the business owners. I honestly can’t remember if we’ve ever had to call the authorities. I have never felt unsafe working with my patients, they are mostly good people that have made bad choices or had been injured and over-prescribed pills by their doctor and then abruptly cut off. MANY of our patients have bravely served in our military. Also, Colonial Management Group clinics are private pay, we do not accept medicare. What does this mean? People that come to our clinic and stay, are usually serious about getting clean. Opioid/heroin drug addiction is a reality, it is not going away on it’s own! So why wouldn’t you want to have a safe place for your neighbors to go and get the help they desperately need?

    1. They don’t help you get off it. They want you on it to continue to get money. I know because my daughter was on it for years {and would probably still be on if she hadn’t went to jail}. I also have a friend that’s been on it for years. They don’t lower their dose, they up it. They want to stay in business and open more clinics. They don’t care about the addict.

      1. for your info. your daughter did not want off methadone, I know for a fact if you want to go lower they will, some people arent ready and want to keep going up,I hope shes back at clinic and not out risking her life with other things,I knew a person that stopped treatment to soon and know is dead of heroin overdose.

      1. No it’s not a way to get drugs! It just makes you not dope sick! Frigging shut up if you don’t know what your talking about. There’s a big difference between being high, and just not being dope sick!

  4. Thank you Nicolle! That was well explained. I also work at a methadone clinic. I am happy to say we have helped so many people get their lives back! Methadone is for opioid addiction not limited to heroin – however – Heroin is everywhere across the country!! Some may not realize just how serious an epidemic it has become. Just adding – some have had major surgery and sadly became physically addicted to the pain medication. I don’t think this clinic coming to Lehigh is a bad thing It may help some of the community and it could even be our own family – one never knows. Most of the clients are very serious about their recovery. It’s good to be educated on what methadone does..

  5. Stay out. I’m at a business one block away and I don’t want your customers around my customers or my employees. We need to protest! Don’t let this kind of business in the middle of town center!

  6. I have noticed alot of people leaving comments, must have no experience in this field,I have 10 years experience, these days most people end up getting addicted from pain medication, that you need to take every 4 hours it works the same as heroin, alot of people want to take more and more and can spend $100.00 a day easy, the same as heroin, if they take methadone you only need it once per day at $13.00 aday, people on methadone wont be out stealing and doing bad things to support there habit, they will be out working and supporting there family or self, please know a little bit of what your talking about before you leave a comment, instead of clucking back and forth no,no,no like a couple old hens. thank you to everyone else that speaks from being educated.

  7. The company only cares about the money the get from clients this is the truth they present a false front when it comes to patient care they lie about everything they do and they dont care about the staff yes they want to keep the clients hook on thd drug methadone 17 dollars a day times 286 clients you do the math they have like 50 clinic all over they are making a killing and some place have 3000 clients.
