ALDI which is owned by a German company called Albrecht Discounts which also owns Trader Joe’s. ALDI is currently working with Lee County on a small development order for the property at 2803 Lee Blvd. currently; First Christian Church Inc. of Lehigh Acres owns the property.
Aldi has been called the world’s best grocery chain.
The German company has more than 10,000 stores around the world and is rapidly expanding.
One reason people love Aldi?
The brand’s famously low prices.
Groceries at Aldi are “shockingly cheaper” than those at Wal-Mart, according to a study by Cheapism.
Aldi employs a few smart strategies to sell groceries for so cheap.
1. Private labels
You won’t find many brand names at Aldi.
About 90% of the products at the grocer are private label. By eliminating the middleman, Aldi can pass the savings on to consumers.
Aldi sticks to private labels and offers fewer items than the typical grocery store, a strategy also used by Costco. While the typical store offers 40,000 items, Aldi offers just 1,400.
Selling fewer items increases sales volume and helps drive discounts.
2. No-frills design
Aldi uses boxes instead of shelves when possible, according to frugalbites.com. This frees up workers from having to stock shelves constantly. Once a product runs out, the workers simply replace it with a box.
Stores utilize natural and energy efficient lighting to cut down on utility costs.
3. Insane efficiency
Aldi has designed a business that is so efficient that it needs fewer workers than the average grocery store.
The company arranges for milk to arrive on racks so it can be restocked in seconds, according to frugalbites. Produce is packaged together and sold so cashiers don’t have to weigh items at checkout.
Even Aldi’s private-label packaging is designed for easy scanning with its checkout systems.
4. Puts customers to work
Aldi asks customers to bring bags from home for their groceries. If they want bags, they have to pay a small fee for them.
Customers also pay a quarter deposit to use a shopping cart at Aldi.
“The shopping cart rental system is one of many ALDI efficiencies that enable us to keep our prices so low,” the company writes on its website. “By not having to hire someone to police the shopping carts, we are able to pass the savings on to our customers.”
We need an Aldi on the. North side of Aiken, SC. No one has transportation to the one located on the other side of town and the lower prices will help the residents of low income. There is a great location available on York Street in Aiken SC. Please consider.
Need job. Thanks
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Aldi in Lehigh Acres, FL!!!!!!!!!! Now, when is the store in Naples, Fl opening???
My prayers have been answered! Lehigh will love Aldi’s. Bring your quarter for the cart (you’ll get it back), and your reusable grocery bags. No more carts all over the parking lot.
There are things I like about Aldi besides its low prices for its customers. These things are part of the grocery store culture in Germany.
As a nurse, I like that Aldi cashiers sit and not stand for hours in one place thereby helping prevent painful leg problems that can last a lifetime. (I used to work in an OR.)
As someone who cares about the workings of the only home we have, the environment that is, I like that Aldi encourages its customers to bring their own grocery bags and will charge a nickel for a paper bag and a dime for a plastic bag to help you be more mindful. You will be bagging your own groceries, too, so you can save more money.
As a person who prefers orderliness over mess, and for people to be more responsible in public, I like that Aldi rents its grocery carts for a quarter. You get your quarter back when you return your cart.
Your hard-earned money is not spent on superfluous things, like “eye candy,” that some other stores incorporate into the cost of their groceries.
So remember to bring your bags and your quarter!
