Fatal Crash Shuts
Down Lee Blvd.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night, there was a fatal crash involving five vehicles that resulted in one death and all lanes in all directions on Lee Boulevard shut down.

A witness on-scene told Lehigh Acres Gazette that the driver of a black Jeep Cherokee SUV was traveling westbound and took down a light pole. He said that the driver then drove off the right side of Lee Boulevard striking a tree and flipped over before coming to a rest in the parking lot of Taco Bell.

Another witness said the light pole that the driver of the Jeep took down fell on the hood of another car, which caused other cars to crash behind it.

FHP confirmed one crash victim has died and driver was extricated by Lehigh Acres Fire Rescue.
