The Community Council of Lehigh Acres is looking for members to sign up to become active in an organization that has been serving the community of Lehigh for a long time.
Council meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at 1229 Homestead Road. The meeting room is at the back of the building with its own parking lot and entrance.
Anyone who is a registered voter and lives in Lehigh may participate in the candidate selection. You’ll be asked your address, phone number, email, voter precinct and the number of years you have lived in Lehigh.
The council has around 40 members and officers that serve in terms. The council is not affiliated with any other county agency, but meets and calls itself the voice of Lehigh.
The executive board is made up of: President Mohamed Yasin; First Vice President Laurie Sternowski; Second Vice President Orville Hall; Treasurer Damon Shelor; Recording Secretary Melinda Lynch; Corresponding Secretary Dewitt Green; and Board Chairman and Past President Tami Baker.
All meetings are open to the public.
The organization is made up of members from different groups that represent certain interests.

You can also pick up a candidacy form at the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce, at 25 N. Homestead Road.
Applications should be turned in at the chamber office by Oct. 30.
The Community Council of Lehigh Acres will meet on Oct. 19. Those who attend are encouraged to bring canned goods that can be given to Lehigh Community Services which hands out food to the needy in the area.
