School Board To Vote
On Removing Superintendent

Dr. Greg Atkins

The Lee County School Board will vote Tuesday night on whether to remove Superintendent Nancy Graham effective immediately.

If the board votes to release Graham, they are expected to appoint Dr. Greg Atkins.

Graham put in her resignation last week, saying she wants to stay on the board until December 21, but it appears that may not happen.

The school board will meet Tuesday afternoon to discuss how to move forward after Graham’s resignation. Three school board members confirm they’ll vote to remove Graham immediately.

Those three votes could be enough to remove Graham from the position, then board members would appoint an interim superintendent. If the board votes to remove Graham immediately, she will still be paid until her official resignation date in December.

While Graham’s sudden resignation was a shock to many, it comes amid criticism of how she handled situations involving bullying and cheating.

The board will meet first at 1:30 p.m. then again Tuesday night at 6 p.m. to vote.
