Three people, including a 5-year-old child, are dead following a crash in SR 82 late Monday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. when two vehicles collided on State Road 82 near Corkscrew.
State Troopers said a car traveling westbound attempted to pass a group of vehicles when it slammed into a Nissan Altima heading eastbound.
The driver of the Altima, Alex Garcia, 28, and Alexis Garcia, 5, died at the scene.
Passengers Jenny Anzualda Garza, 28, and Jeremiah Garcia, 10, were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the other vehicle died at the scene and a passenger was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
