Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down a man who tried to hold up a Lehigh Acres store last night, but was run off when an employee pulled out his own gun and chased the suspect away.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, an unknown white or Hispanic male entered the Grocery Discount Stores, located at 5580 Lee Boulevard, and pointed a two-toned semi-automatic handgun at a store employee, demanding all the cash in the store. In fear of his life, the employee, who was also armed, drew his gun on the suspect in order to defend himself. The employee proceeded to chase the man out of the store, who fled on foot with another subject, headed southbound on Lee Boulevard.
The suspect is described as between 20-26 years of age, 5’6”, with a heavy build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black hooded Florida Marlins sweatshirt, black shorts, white shoes, black gloves and a white mask which concealed his entire face. The unknown male should be considered armed and dangerous.
