15 year old Makenzie Glasser has now learned new steps from the Rockettes Summer Dance Intensive program.

Glasser been dancing at Footnotes (Lehigh Acres) since she is was 3 years old.  She has been a member of their competition team, the LA Stars since she was 5.  This fall she will be a sophomore at Lehigh Senior where she is in the Cambridge program and a Dance major in the Center for the Arts.  She attended Veterans Park Academy for the Arts kindergarten through 8th grades and was on their All County Dance team 5th-8th grades.  In 9th grade she was on the All County Dance Team for Lehigh Senior and attended the FDPA Dance Assessments and State Honors Concert this past February.

In January Makenzie traveled to Orlando to audition for the Rockettes Summer Dance Intensive.  Auditions were held in 13 cities throughout the country along with 6 in New York City.  Her audition had around 65 girls in attendance.  The girls were trying to earn spots in one of the 7 week long intensives held in New York City.  The largest weeks had spots for 80 girls, but many of the spots were already taken by girls returning from the previous year who did not have to audition again to return.

In April she received notification that she had earned a spot in week 6, July 26-31.  Weeks 1-5 held their rehearsals at Radio City Music Hall.  Weeks 6 & 7 held their rehearsals at St. Paul’s Cathedral where the Rockettes normally rehearse because America’s Got Talent is using Radio City.  The girls took a tour of Radio City on Sunday morning.  They then reported at noon to begin dancing.  Through the week they danced from 9-5 or 9-6.  On Friday they rehearsed at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. That Friday afternoon they performed 3 of the routines from the Rockettes Christmas show at the Skirball Center.
