A Lehigh Acres shopping plaza had to be evacuated after a fire broke out in the attic of the building Wednesday morning.
It happened off Lee Boulevard just after 10 a.m. The owner of one of the businesses, Cutting Edge Barber Shop, said he called 911 when smoke started filling his shop.
According to Junior Fernandez owner of the store, There were about 15 customers were in the shop at the time. The entire building was evacuated as firefighters fought the fire.
“I haven’t been able to go in there,” said Fernandez. “I know they pumped water through the whole ceiling so I don’t know what to expect right now.”
Fernandez hopes it doesn’t keep them closed down for too long.
Everyone was allowed back into the plaza except for customers of the barbershop and a bridal shop next door.
Nobody was injured and there was minimal damage. The fire department believes it was an electrical fire, but Lehigh Acres Fire department has ordered an investigation.
