Lehigh Acres Fire
Assessment Fee Finalized, But

People living in Lehigh Acres will now have to pay hundreds of dollars in a new fire assessment fee. If not, they could lose their property.

The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District finalized the plan Tuesday night – after a long and heated debate on whether or not to implement the new cost.

Even some of the residents in attendance booed and even hissed during the meeting that lasted hours and hours.

The biggest concern came from non-profits businesses in Lehigh Acres.

In the original plan they were excluded from the fee, for some, it would cost thousands of dollars.

After the resolution was passed Tuesday night the department decided to include 300 or more charities and non-profits. They will no longer have to pay the fire assessment fee, BUT this has NOT been confirmed because the Fire Department has refused to release the correct document. The Lehigh Acres Gazette has requested the proper documents to back up their claim. But the Fire Department has refused to give up copies of the documents.

If the documents are not sent to the Lehigh Acres Gazette, the publisher has decided to file an affidavit with the State attorney’s office to compel the Fire Chief for records if this happens the Chief could be facing civil penalties and /or jail time.

So, why is the Fire Department also trying to hide things from the taxpayers and voters again?
