Why are some not for profits charge for the fire assessment when others are not?
Currently Lehigh Community Services is not being charged with the fire assessment but all the other non-profits in town are being charged. Is this some form of discrimination in Lehigh Acres that the fire board has done?
Lehigh Community Services would not comment for this story.
One source at the America Legion stated is this some type of fraud the fire board did to get the people in Lehigh to vote for the fire assessment and now it’s going to hurt charitable giving.
One source in the Masonic Lodge on Asher Avenue stated we will probably have to sell the lodge to pay the bill.
A source at the Moose Lodge said why do we have to pay? We give away money to charity we are wholly exempt organization.
Now they list the rescue as a separate item,I hope they separate that extra rescue pay from the people who are not on the rescue payroll
What won’t happen! The people in Lehigh Acres didn’t understand that they voted TWO assessments in November 2014
I suggest that all non-profits who are assessed not pay and join together and sue the fire board. That is one group I would support fully.
