UPDATE: At 10:30 pm fire is 350 acres and 75 percent contained.
Fire Crews for multiple agencies are battling a brush fire that is burning off SR-82 near Shawnee Road.
According to Florida Forestry Service, the brush fire is 175 acres and 70 percent contained. The smoke caused visibility issues along busy Daniels Parkway during the afternoon rush.
We’re been told 75 firefighters are back in the brush trying to get the fire out.
The wind is a big factor in fighting the fire. The wind keeps switching directions, forcing flare-ups in different areas.
Another problem is the area is full of marsh — making it hard to physically get to the fire.
The fire is becoming a concern for the airport as it is about 350 feet from the runway.
There are no delays or issues at the airport. No homes or structures are in danger.
