Nachito Herrera, Cuban
Piano Virtuoso, Returns to Naples

Ignacio “Nachito” Herrera

The Naples Music Club (www.naplesmusicclub.org) will present a performance by Nachito Herrera – a master of classical music, Cuban genres and jazz –  in his return to Naples on Saturday, February 21, at North Naples Methodist Church at 7:00 p.m. with his trio.

Herrera last played in Naples with the Cuban Symphony to a sold-out audience at the Naples Philharmonic Center two years ago as part of the ArtsNaples World Festival. His performance brought the audience to its feet with thunderous applause.

Ignacio “Nachito” Herrera was a child prodigy who stunned Cuban audiences at the age of 12 when he performed Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 2 with the Havana Symphony Orchestra.  He focused on classical music until he was 18. By the late 1990’s, Herrera had joined the famed Cuban Orchestra Cubanismo as its pianist, musical director, and arranger. Cubanismo performed at many of the world’s finest concert halls and prestigious festivals.  Herrera combines classical music with traditional Cuban rhythms. He has phenomenal technique, great originality, and a totally captivating personality. Jazz critic and “Playboy Guide To Jazz” author Neil Tesser, said his talent “…vaults him into the upper echelon — a trinity comprising Chucho Valdes, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and now Nachito Herrera”.   The Jazz Police hailed his, “Monster technique, bottomless energy, and infectious enthusiasm.” And, Tom Surowicz with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, called him, “Explosive.  Crowd pleasing. Rhythmically intense.  Romantic. Dynamic. Jaw-droppingly good.”  You won’t want to miss his performance in Naples!

Tickets to Nachito Herrera’s February 21 performance presented by the Naples Music Club are $10 per adult and $5 per child for families; $25 per person for general admission; and $75 per person for patrons in a reserved section. About the Naples Music Club

For 50 years, the Naples Music Club has served as Collier County’s original organization dedicated to music.  This 100% volunteer-driven organization relies on its hundreds of dedicated volunteers to accomplish its mission, which is to support music education and performance, to provide scholarships, and to engage in collaborative outreach efforts within Naples and its neighboring communities. The Naples Music Club accomplishes this by presenting high quality musical events for a variety of audiences; providing awards and over $40,000 annual in scholarships to encourage music students to achieve excellence in their art; collaborating with schools and area musical organizations to support, encourage, and recognize excellence through various outreach programs; and affording opportunities for club members to develop their talents by performing for each other and in concert.  The organization will spend over $80,000 this year on schools in the Golden Gate area providing music instruction to children that are economically needy.
