UPDATE: 2:30 p.m.
A spokesman for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office says the residents of 732 Gaylord Avenue in Lehigh Acres were working in their garage when they noticed a suspicious car driving around the neighborhood.
The residents of the home told police they were so concerned that they decided to arm themselves.
The residents say that the car stopped in front of the home, people got out and multitude of gunfire was exchanged.
One male resident was shot in the abdomen and taken to the hospital by Lehigh Fire Dept. The suspects in the vehicle fled the scene.

Lee Sheriff office is releasing few details about a criminal investigation in the area of Gaylord Street and Kimberly Street.
Earliest reports these morning indicated the activity may have involved a shooting however LSCO has not yet confirmed it.
