Olga Wood always liked to draw. Her interest in painting began when public television artists caught her attention. She has taken painting lessons from a PBS associate as well as instructors from the School of Fine Arts in Willoughby, Ohio and Cleveland artist Jerry Magnona. She began taking lessons from veteran Lehigh Acres painter June De Vincent three years ago. Olga continues to learn from public television fine art painter Jerry Yarnell as well as her vast collection of books and tapes on painting.
Mrs. Wood is a member of the Arts of the Inland (AOI). Her work has been shown during exhibitions at Kaiser University, AOI Art, Craft & Music Festival in LaBelle, the Hendry House in La Belle, and PERCEPTIONS and INSPIRATIONS art shows at the Majestic Golf Club in Lehigh. Olga had a one-woman art show during a performance of the Silver Strings Chamber Orchestra and the Gulf Coast Music School in December at the Fort Myers Unitarian Universalist Church. It was especially rewarding for the members of the Chamber Orchestra who are from Slovakia, to see her art depicting scenes from their home country. Olga is a native of Slovakia.
