Lee County Sheriff Office is investigating a fatal overnight crash in Lehigh Acres.
The fatal crash happened on Lee Boulevard near Douglas Avenue just after midnight Chirstmas Day.
Investigators say that a 1997 Nissan was going west on Lee Boulevard approaching Douglas Avenue. Witnesses say the vehicle was traveling at a very high rate of speed were the vehicle jumped the curb and struck a large steel sign. The driver, later identified as 50-year-old Eduardo Rodriguez was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.
Lee County Sheriff Office stated Rodriguez was not wearing a seat belt and that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
