I don’t know how it happened but it is December already. One year gone with a list of accomplishments I did not get accomplished. It’s rather terrifying actually that I can look back over the year and see how quickly each month passed filled with details of things to do, efforts to push through and opportunities that took lots of time with mixed results. Before Halloween was over I could feel the pressure of the year coming to an end as the stores pulled out their holiday decorations – Christmas decorations that is. Somehow in our business we seem to loose Thanksgiving all together except for the few hours when we settle down for a meal of feasting and thanks giving.
Living in Florida it is easy to miss the fall cues as the weather just becomes a bit milder and the roads become busier. We forget the visuals of harvest that most of the north has to remind them but this year I need Thanksgiving more then ever. This year I needed to appreciate that although I have a list that did not get accomplished as I hopped I did achieve exactly what I intended to do.
As I sat at my kitchen table sipping my coffee Thursday morning hearing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the background I noticed the chalk board I wrote on New Year’s day 2014. “The Year of Wealth and Abundance Creation. Surround Yourself With Excellence.” It had been a while that I really thought about the intention I set for the year rather than the list of to do’s and want to do’s and disappointments.
In actuality everything I did do had given me clarity, focus, and an essence of professionalism that I had not had before in my new career. I found my own strength and moved forward on my own rather than working to partner with other people. As soon as I let go and decided to move forward on my own an amazing editor showed up in my life, as a gift from the universe and my beloved best friend and biggest supporter came back into my daily life after years of only holiday calls. I was now a published author with a real publishing contract in my hands for a printed version of my book. I am writing for multiple publications and posting regularly to my blog. I developed three signature programs I love to teach. My family is peaceful and my oldest son is playing sports in college with straight A’s. My baby will soon graduate high school and somehow we are all safe, healthy and happy. All and all things are exactly as I intended they would be.
As I realized how important my intention was in how this year played out I got up erased the chalkboard. Pausing for a moment, considering what I wanted to feel over the next year I decided to write “It a time for harvest, plenty, abundance, celebration, gratitude, love and, thanks giving”
How often do we forget to recognize all we accomplish in the many form our desires fulfill themselves? How often are you grateful for all you do accomplish instead of what you have not gotten done? The holidays are a time we celebrate family, friendship and love but we need to recognize that the core of all we have to give is us. Unless we can truly appreciate and love ourselves and honor our own intentions we have little to truly give of ourselves to others. This December and the coming year I am honoring my intention I wrote on Thanksgiving Day. Each day I will choose to accept my harvest, appreciate my plenty, recognize my abundance, celebrate life and give thanks for my strength and successes, and live each and every day in love. 2015 will be the year of Thanks Giving.
As you plan to bring in the New Year rather than planning a solution to a problem by setting a resolution that are rarely successful. I invite you to set an intention. Intentions are about planning to do or achieve something with purpose. Despite my lists not being done or my plans not all meeting the success I had planned somehow my intentions were achieved without much effort or focus at all. And perhaps, next Thanksgiving you too, can celebrate with me how grateful you are for all that you have truly, and effortlessly achieved.
