Wow…what a sad world we live in when all anyone can focus on is money. Why must people always want more and more and never care who gets hurt from babes starving from not having money for food to elderly getting sicker due to not having money for food or their medications? And people wonder why the world is slowly falling apart.
Here is a small story for you:
The seven deadly sins are vices that were and are still used by some to educate and instruct many religions concerning humanity’s tendency to sin. The sins symbolize how a human truly is on the inside and determines what their undoing will be in the end of time due to those actions.
The sins are as follows many of which we encounter in life today:
Lust – to have an intense desire or need: “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew5:28).
Gluttony – excess in eating and drinking: “for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags” (Proverbs 23:21).
Greed – excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness: “Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more” (Ephesians 4:19).
Laziness – disinclined to activity or exertion: not energetic or vigorous: “The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway” (Proverbs 15:19).
Wrath – strong vengeful anger or indignation: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1)
Envy – painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage: “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:1-2).
Pride – quality or state of being proud – inordinate self esteem: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).
“There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers” (Proverbs 6:16-19).
The one that I would like to really speak on is Greed tonight. The Lehigh Acres Fire District is my main subject tonight.
In 2009 the Lehigh Acres Fire Department was awarded a SAFER grant for 8.9 million dollars.
The Lehigh Acres Fire Department also had an interest free internal loan from the general fund to the impact fee fund for over 2.5 million dollars to pay off the station and equipment. This was all stated on the Lehigh Acres Gazette which many misinformed voters apparently did not read. Here is the link to this information:http://thelehighacresgazette.com/news/fire-department-loses-1-1-million-dollars/ .
Now the Lehigh Acres Fire Department has again gotten what they demanded, a fire assessment fee that all Lehigh Residence will now have to pay. Yes, everyone will have to pay sadly. Apparently they forgot to mention the fine print that allows them to do as they please with the fire assessment. They may have gotten all the votes today, but what will all the compliant voters think when they all have to pay this tax?
Please beware just as a caged animal has to rely on the owner to care for it until it is released and can turn on the owner the The Lehigh Acres Fire Department may be a good thing for now, but all good things must come to end as it just did when this fire assessment passed just to feed their GREED. For what you may ask….hmmm let’s think about it….1+1=2…they made you believe + they got your vote = now they get YOUR hard earned money that could have went to something you needed to get done or needed to get (tires, diapers, medication, food, clothing, school supplies, vehicle, etc).
Just remember GREED will not get you anywhere in the long run, but it will make you a lot of enemies. Good Luck to you all.
