Internet sensation Grumpy Cat is making a swift move from online meme to television star — but don’t get too excited, because Grumpy Cat probably won’t like that.
Television movie “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” is set to debut Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. on Lifetime, According to the Alsbury Park Press, “Grumpy Cat plays a kitty who gets passed over in a mall pet store until one day a girl with a kindly heart takes Grumpy home.”
Then, Grumpy Cat – fittingly voiced by actress and Comedian Aubrey Plaza, best known for her apathetic personality in TV series “Parks and Recreation” – finds herself in a slew of situations such as a “dognapping, a car chase, an explosion and a merry Christmas for Grumpy hanging in the balance.”
The celebrity feline, whose actual name is “Tardar Sauce,” rose to fame after her picture was posted to social news website Reddit in 2012, sparking a flurry of internet memes poking fun at the cat’s facial characteristics, which constantly make her look “grumpy.”
Grumpy Cat has nearly 7 million “likes” on her official Facebook page, and she has even been featured on the front pages of The Wall Street Journal and New York Magazine.
According to her website, Grumpy Cat isn’t really all that grumpy – rather, “she is a super cute and cuddly kitty and loves to be held and rubbed!”
