Christmas Trees Fake vs Real
What’s Your Opinion

Black Friday is the first big day for Christmas tree sales. It’s a hot topic this time of year: buying real versus fake trees.

Fans of the fake trees are making a big comeback. Nationwide almost 15 million were sold last year. But the real deal still dominates the great debate.

There’s a certain standard for a perfect Christmas tree.

“It’s gotta be full. It’s gotta be the right height,” said one tree shopper.

The trees take years to grow in specific climates. In Southwest Florida, they’re shipped in from out of state.

The National Christmas Tree Association says last year 14.7 million fake trees were sold. That’s 6.5 million more than in 2010.

Their more than $1 billion retail value slightly beat out real trees – only because they tend to cost more than double.

According to the National Christmas Tree Association, roughly 33 million real trees were bought in 2013 – the most sold since 2007.

For many families, the day after Thanksgiving is a Christmas tree tradition. They kick off the holiday season with a reminder of what this time of year is all about.

So what is your choice real or fake?
