Lehigh Acres Sub Division Will Ban Outsiders from Trick-Or-Treating

Big changes are on the way for a popular trick-or-treating neighborhood in Lehigh Acres.

In June, the Varsity Lakes Community was considering a ban for outsiders from getting into the community on Halloween night.  We found out the homeowners association did approve the decision in a meeting last week.

The community welcomed visitors into the neighborhood for years.

Residents say the crowds were not safe for children.  Last year, homeowners reported damage.

Residents say visitors were bypassing the security gate and entering the community through a sidewalk.  This year, the homeowners association ruled only residents and their guests are allowed in on Halloween night.

The homeowners association president tells us they will need more than the two off-duty sheriff’s deputies they hired last year.  They have hired six guards from Statewide Security to help control traffic and outsiders.

According to the homeowners association president, residents will get a letter next week explaining the new rule.  An employee at Statewide Security tells us they will have guards at five to six communities in Lee County this Halloween.
