On October 14th, 2014, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a child abuse situation in Lehigh Acres. Deputies responded and conducted a preliminary investigation.
A relative of the child observed bruising on the face and buttocks of a two-year-old boy. When she confronted the person responsible for caring for the child, Adrian Allen, he explained that he was upset that the child had defecated in his diaper and spanked him as punishment. Due to the nature of the crime, detectives with the Special Victims Unit of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded.
According to investigators, Adrian Allen was “hung over” from drinking too much the previous night, and was trying to rest. Allen became upset when the child defecated in his diaper during potty training, losing his temper and striking the child overzealously several times on the buttocks, legs, and face. Due to Allen going “overboard” in his punishment, the child sustained bruising on his legs and face.
Based on the investigation, Adrian Allen was arrested and charged with Child Abuse – Without great bodily harm.
