Will Lehigh Acres Lose its Ambulance Service?

The True answer is NO, yet the Lehigh Acres Fire Chief John Wayne thinks scaring you and the community is the best propaganda to get the fire assessment passed.  If the fire assessment does not pass the chief will order the Lehigh Acres ambulance off the road, period end of story. But that is not the real truth, there is the state law and county ordinances that will kick in and Lee County EMS will have to place ambulances in Lehigh Acres and will have to meet the set standards.

Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann tells us in 2009, the county is ready to move equipment and manpower to Lehigh Acres, in the event the community loses its ambulance service.

“We are aware of the assessment for Lehigh Fire that is going on the Nov. 4ballot. We are working to develop a plan, should that ballot measure fail.  The county will work with Lehigh Acres Fire and Rescue to ensure there is continuous EMS coverage for the residence of Lehigh Acres. Lee County is responsible to ensure EMS coverage is provided throughout the county.”, said Scott Tuttle, Deputy Director Public Safety and EMS Chief for Lee County EMS.
