On Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 5:57 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Homestead Road and Kimdale Street E.
Paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced the driver, Owen Thomas McGreevy,19 deceased on scene.
Due to the nature of the incident, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded to the scene.
A traffic homicide investigation was conducted and revealed the following facts: McGreevy left this place of employment (Pizza Hut, on Homestead Road, Lehigh Acres) to deliver pizzas. McGreevy was travelling in his 2001 Oldsmobile when he attempted to negotiate a right curve at a high rate of speed. McGreevy lost control of his vehicle, causing it to exit the roadway in a northwesterly direction of travel. The Oldsmobile then struck a tree, head on. McGreevy, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:05 p.m.
Speed was a contributing factor in the crash, but impairment was not.
What you didn’t know was the fact that it took paramedics approximately 11 min to respond on the scene. Normal response time is officially listed by the LHF&R District as 4-6 minutes. My research shows no other 911 calls that would have tied up any paramedics at that particular time.
It must also examined that his employer stresses ON TIME DELIVERIES,
Your research is wrong Matt Smith. 1. Response time was… Dispatched at 17:59:11, and on scene at 18:02:16 that is a 3 min 14 sec response time. It was actually a little less than that because TK 102 was on the road before they were dispatched after a passer by stopped at the station to tell us about the accident before dispatch toned us out.2. As far as no other calls, Rescue 102 went available from Health Park Medical center at 17:15 after transporting a patient there They received this call while enroute back to the station. At 17:57, both the Truck and Rescue were dispatched to Perkins for a personal injury but were cancelled within 2 minutes. Everyone is entitled to thier opinios and that is fine but spewing untruths just make YOU lose you credability. And your comment about “On time deliveries” makes me think you have no children. The result of this accident was tragic and nothing to make light of let alone in a public forum!
