Dr. Jerald Thompson and his fourth grade students from Sunshine Elementary are sending Nicholas Padgette a care package to the hospital in Miami.
“Crayons [and] coloring books to keep him busy,” said Dr. Thompson.
Inside the box is over 40 get well soon cards from students; plus stuffed animals, clothes, books and games.
“This was little guy and I just wanted to bring a little brightness to his world and I think the best way to do that is through other kids,” said Dr. Thompson.
Lee County deputies say Nicholas was nearly beaten to death by his mother’s boyfriend, Levi Greenup. Greenup was arrested in May for child abuse after he reportedly threw Nicholas into a cement slab.
Deputies say Levi Greenup beat Nicholas Padgette after the toddler went to the bathroom in his pants.
Nicholas’ grandmother Denise Cope tells us they received some bad news recently. Doctors told her the three-year-old could have permanent damage to his pancreas.
