Frustration Ahead For The
Tax Payers Of Lehigh Acres

The Fire Chief refuses to answer five simple questions to the Lehigh Acres Gazette why? What are the Fire Commissioners and Chief really hiding when it comes to the tax assessment?

Chief Wayne sends the Lehigh Acres Gazette an email that is 403 words that has nothing to do with the questions below. So the Chief sit down in front of the tax payer paid computer and wrote 403 words of crap but can’t answer 5 questions that would help tell their story on why they need this tax assessment.

Questions:

1)      Besides the loss of ad-valorem revenue, is the present situation of not making budget with existing revenues the result of poor planning and business practices over the year?

2)      The District has received millions of Federal dollars in the SAFER grants. Has the District used this time to prepare for the day they grants end?

3)      What reforms in detail has the District done to decrease spending?

4)      Are all salaries in line with other districts in Lee County and the State of Florida?

5)      Why now a flat fee of 292.00 instead of .17 per square foot?

  1. The fire department and also the fire rescue employees are receiving adequate plus salaries right now. Adjust that budget to eliminate any new raises.
Our police protection agency happens to be the department in need of raises, if anyone gets a raise……..every time a deputy punches in and gets into the patrol car they are putting their lives on the line.
Also new fire trucks are not needed so soon. Maintenance should be done on a regular basis, not just cleaning and polishing the trucks.
Vacant land owners are in need of the most fire protection. Owners of vacant land should be made to maintain their property, so that fires would not be able to spread so easily.
    I will vote no.

  2. the flat rate that the Fire Dept. Is pushing, I plan to vote against this measure, with the following un answered point in my mind. Percentage wise on the departments roster how many do not go out on REGULAR call and those that don’t go out what function do they preform to satisfy the taxpayers input/ how can a cost saving plan work un less everyone sees a tax increase. If the flat rate is adapted does this cover the ambulance service. If a population increase were to happen would the flat rate be adjusted with out the taxpayers say so. what happens when land is annexed. what happens if grant monies are lost or cut back. At what point is the level of pay/benefits, as compared to the rest of the state.
