The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools will host a luncheon on Monday, May 5th, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at Broadway Palm Dinner Theater to celebrate the Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program’s 2014 graduating class. A class of 32 seniors will be awarded four-year college tuition scholarships, with a value of more than $470,000, through The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools’ Take Stock in Children Program.
“These students have demonstrated through hard work, determination, and a positive vision for the future, that they deserve the applause of the community,” says Marshall T. Bower, President & CEO of The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools. “They have reached a milestone in their lives… graduation from high school, and they are well-prepared for the next stepping stone toward a bright future, college!”
Originally selected as scholarship recipients in either sixth or ninth grade, these high school graduates have honored their contracts to maintain good grades, remain crime-free, drug-free, and meet regularly with an assigned mentor. All Take Stock in Children applicants come to the program in at-risk situations, from low-income homes, attending Lee County District Schools. Upon graduation, each student will a receive four-year college tuition scholarship. Students will be joined by family, donors, mentors and the community as they are recognized for their accomplishments.
