Today the Curt Clawson campaign announced that Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott would lead an effort to bring new supporters into the campaign who either stayed neutral in the Primary or supported other candidates.
Sheriff Scott released the following statement:
“I stayed neutral in the Primary out of respect for other candidates and because the campaign became so divisive that the community needed someone to help bring people together when the Primary was over.
I admire Curt Clawson for running a phenomenal campaign that earned the overwhelming support of our community here in Southwest Florida. He stayed focused on the issues such as his Economic Growth Plan and voters rewarded him with their votes.
Last night in his speech he very eloquently described the importance of unifying Southwest Florida after a very divisive Primary. He is exactly right. Now is the time for the community to support Curt as our next Congressman.
I urge other Republicans to get behind Curt both in the upcoming Special General Election as well as the August Primary for the following term. I will be contacting members of the community who either stayed neutral or supported other candidates and will be asking them to join me on the Clawson team as part of the #FL19 Unity effort.”
Curt Clawson released the following statement:
“I have long admired Sheriff Scott as a key leader of Southwest Florida and appreciate that he is accepting this role in bringing our community together with the #FL19 Unity effort,” said Curt Clawson. “I thank him for his help and support and look forward to working with him to unite Southwest Florida”
Curt Clawson won the Republican Primary for the Special Election on April 22nd with 38.2% of the vote. He will face April Freeman in the General Election on June 24th.
