Curt Clawson has won the Republican primary election in the Florida District 19 special election with currently more than 38 percent of the vote; defeating challengers Lizbeth Benacquisto, Paige Kreegel and Michael Dreikorn.
Clawson will face a Democratic challenger April Freeman and Libertarian Ray Netherwood in the June 24 general election.
The special election was called when Rep. Trey Radel resigned in January after being arrested for buying cocaine.
