in Double Homicide Investigation

LCSO is looking for Steven Tompkins

On Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at 6:55 p.m., a 9-1-1 operator at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about two adults found deceased at 1919 Jefferson Avenue in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Deputies responded to the home and confirmed the caller’s information.

Due to the nature of the incident, homicide detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation. The scene remains held as crime scene technicians collect and document evidence. The deceased will be turned over to the District 21 Medical Examiner to confirm cause of death. The names of the victims are pending positive identification.

The two victims were found inside the home by friends concerned for the well-being of the homeowner and one of her sons. Upon entry into the house they made the grizzly discovery.  A third member of the household, 24 year old Steven David Tompkins has not been located at this time and due to the circumstances is considered a person of interest.  He may be armed with a handgun and traveling in a 2004, green, 4-door, Ford F-150 Lariat pick-up truck with a Florida license tag of BFK T59. Tompkins is described as 5’5” tall, medium build with hazel eyes and short brown hair.  He may also have facial hair.
