A Lee County judge has sentenced 30-year-old Melissa Webb to a life sentence for the murder of Bryan Sorendino back in 2011.
Sorendino was killed in September of that year. The State said Webb shot the 30-year-old twice and wrapped his body in a sleeping bag before dumping it in the woods in Charlotte County. After hearing victim impact statements from Sorendino’s family, the defendant addressed the court and Sorendino’s family.
“I know that there is nothing that I can say…for all of us involved,” Webb said, in part.
“I want all of you to know I am truly sorry, and I know that’s never going to be enough,” Webb said. “I’m sorry.”

Sorendino’s mother, Rosina McDonald, left court before Webb gave a statement, but McDonald says her apology does not bring Sorendino back.
McDonald expressed disgust with Webb’s behavior in the days between the murder and the discovery of her son’s body, noting much of what happened was not admissible during the trial.”You just can’t imagine the horror of what we’ve lived and what we’ve experienced,” McDonald said. “I’ve sat through two years of hell. If emotions bleed, I don’t have one ounce of blood left.”
I am still in shock over this terrible tragedy. My nephew, Bryan is with all of his grandparents. His daughters will never share tender moments, walking down the aisle, the first dance, or any other significant moment in their lives. It was stollen from them. How can you explain to a five (5) and seven (7) year old that they will never see their father ever again? It was a miracle how those Entomologists happened to uncover Bryan’s remains. God was guiding them to that location. Over the years I lost contact with my nephew, Bryan and his mother, Ro. I’ve never met Sierra,Isabella Bryan’s daughters. Hopefully I will meet them real soon. Bryan Sorendino was a great man, mentor, father, and most of all Mr. Sorendino was a great human being. I had the pleasure of being in the Navy with Mr. Sorendino where he taught me everything that I needed to know to be a successful sailor. I pray that his daughters have the support system necessary to thrive so that they can grow to be beautiful loving wives, mothers, and human beings. R.I.P old friend. May you rest in peace.
