Two Lehigh Acres Schools, Harns Marsh Elementary and Lehigh Senior High have been named recipients of the 2013 Five Star School Award, an award that is presented each year to deserving schools by the Florida Commissioner of Education’s Community Involvement Council. This award recognizes schools that have demonstrated exemplary community involvement. To qualify for this award, a school must achieve 100% of the required criteria and maintain a portfolio that documents the achievement of criterion in five areas: Community/Business Partnership; Family Involvement; Volunteers; Student Community Service; and the School Advisory Council.
The Commissioner’s Community Involvement Council recognizes the vital role that communities play with regards to student success. Schools that achieve this designation receive the Florida Department of Education’s highest award for community involvement. The two schools will be honored at the November 5, 2013 School Board meeting.
