On Sunday, November 3, 2013, at 12:45 am, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a single vehicle crash. The incident occurred at 3840 Highlight Street, Fort Myers. Deputies responded to the scene.
Upon arrival deputies discovered the driver of a 2005 Chevy Pick-up truck was ejected from the vehicle and sustained life threatening injuries. The driver was transported to Lehigh Regional Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Due to the nature of the incident, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit were assigned to continue the investigation.
Preliminary information reveals the driver of the Chevy Pick-up truck was traveling northeast on Highlight Street. As the driver attempted to negotiate a turn he lost control of the vehicle resulting in striking a pine tree and coming to rest in the nearby shrubbery. Speed and alcohol may have been a factor in the traffic crash.
