For over seven years, the Lehigh Rotary Club and several 100 volunteers have prepared Thanksgiving dinner every year and have invited everyone in Lehigh Acres to attend at no cost.
Rotary Chairman of the Dinner Mike Buff said, it’s free to everyone. We want to stipulate that. There are many who may not be able to afford a Thanksgiving meal and there are those who are elderly who live alone and won’t be preparing a holiday meal. All are invited he said.
Thanksgiving Dinner will start at 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day and continued until 2 p.m., will be held in the Parish Hall of St. Raphael’s Church on Lee Boulevard, across from the Lehigh Acres Walmart.
The money to pay for the dinner comes from the club and their projects such as the Rock, Blues and Brews Festival held last month. The Rotarians also do a free Christmas Dinner in December at St. Raphael’s Church on Lee Boulevard.
Last year over 550 people turned out for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner in Lehigh Acres.
In addition to the Rotarians over 100 volunteers also turn out each year to help serve the meals in a long line.
