Lee County Master Gardener Karen Harty opens her Lehigh Acres edible garden Sunday mornings to anyone wanting to learn by hands-on gardening. Plant, prune, save seeds, attack insects, amend the soil, feed the worm bin, propagate plants, make potting soil, and yes, pull weeds. Whatever it takes to keep an edible garden healthy and happy.
Karen’s garden is open to trainees just about every Sunday from 9-11am. Come once or come every week. Dress to work in the sun, dirt, and fire ants. Wear sunscreen, bring a hat, gloves, drinking water, and a bag to take goodies home in. Pupils must sign a waiver.
