Mirror Lakes Golf Club is looking for help by sponsoring a section of the community garden.
According to David Deetscreek, “We are trying to become good stewards of our environment and figuring out ways to incorporate the 4 R’s into our golf operation. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Rethink”. As part of this process we are creating a large garden out at Mirror Lakes with the hopes of growing fruits and vegetables that we can supply free of charge to organizations such as Lehigh Community Services. Deetscreek went on to say, “We plan on integrating volunteer support from our schools, senior centers, and golf members and guests.”
If you would to be a sponsor a section 8 x 8, 10 x 12, etc. Mirror Lakes has a list of available produce as well as a diagram of available spots. Some businesses have already secured a spots. An 8 x 8 spot is $250.00. According Deetscreeks, the sponsorship amounts are not a money-making proposition for the golf course. Mirror Lakes Golf Club is paying the balance of the costs involved for each section, which is about an additional $150.00 to $200.00. Why, because the partners of the course is this very seriously and wants to do something different that will contribute to our community of Lehigh Acres.
This is an awesome time to do something different together that we all can have fun with and be proud of, said Deetscreek. Should you sponsor a section, you can contribute whatever additional effort you want to during the growing and harvesting process. If not, we’ve got that handled. We all can compete as well so if you want the biggest watermelon, have at it!
