UPDATE: 55-year-old Kenneth Wood was arrested just hours after several Crime Stoppers tips were received identifying Wood as the attacker on surveillance video.
Wood has two prior arrests in Lee County – both for battery charges.
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppersis asking for the public’s help identifying a 6’0” bully who threw a senior citizen to the ground and assaulted him over a dispute at a North Fort Myers laundromat.In the early morning hours of September 9, the 75 year old victim and his wife were minding their own business, washing clothes at the Coin Laundry, located at 50 Pine Island Road, North Fort Myers. An unknown white male then approached the couple, and instructed them not to use a dryer that he wanted to use later, stating that it was “his” dryer. The victim exchanged words with the suspect, who proceeded to forcefully push the senior citizen to the ground, and kick him several times. When the victim attempted to call 9-1-1, the suspect took the man’s phone and smashed it onto the ground before leaving on foot. The victim was able to seek help at a neighboring business for injuries sustained in the fall.
Detectives are now trying to identify the man who will be facing felony charges of battery on a person age 65 or older. The suspect is described as 6’0” and approximately 220 pounds.
