A teenage driver is in trouble before he even gets his license. Lee County deputies say a 14-year-old boy crashed his parents’ car Wednesday night.
The aftermath of the crash still dots the banks of a Lehigh Acres canal at Leeland Heights and Lee Boulevards. Deputies say the underage driver lost control and rolled the SUV into the water.
The teenager isn’t even old enough to drive in the real world. Under Florida law, you can’t get a learner’s permit until you’re 15-years-old.
Now this driver is facing the consequences. Deputies gave him a notice to appear in court on misdemeanor offenses of driving without a license and careless driving.
The Lehigh Acres Fire Department says a 15-year-old was also in the car. Both boys escaped without any major injuries. LCSO says they don’t see a lot of underage drivers.
