There is no one commonly recognized definition of community policing, and there is an uncautious tendency to label anything and everything as community policing. However, the best working definition would be “a department-wide philosophy of full-service, personalized and decentralized policing, where citizens feel empowered to work in proactive partnerships with the police at solving the problems of crime, fear of crime, disorder, decay, and quality of life.”
Community policing is one the keys that the Lee County Sheriff has been providing county wide but it’s been more and more noticeable in the Community of Lehigh Acres.
Lee County Sheriff Office has a wide variety of presentations are offered by our Florida Crime Prevention Practitioners. These presentations vary in length and are a free service of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. These presentations provide information and tips to promote safety and help prevent crime.
They also they offer Business Watch, Neighborhood Watch Programs, Citizens Academy, House of Worship Safety and Security, Volunteer Observers Impacting Community Efforts (VOICE).
