Closuring Of Parkdale Blvd
Is Confusing Drivers

A road closure is causing some confusion and some concern. A portion of Parkdale Boulevard is closed while an East Lee County Water District culvert is repaired. It usually has high traffic, connecting State Road 82 to Homestead Road.

Residents are worried that high traffic is now being detoured through their quiet neighborhoods.

The Gazette found out the county took additional steps on Friday to make drivers more aware of the closure. But that’s after they received some complaints.

Parkdale Boulevard is typically pretty busy. It’s a route that connects SR-82 in Lehigh to Homestead Road.

The Lee County Department of Transportation initially had two signs up on Parkdale warning drivers and they developed a detour.

We’ve continued to kind of revise that and tweak that to make people understand that the roadways closed,” said David Loveland, Lee County Department of Transportation

Just this morning, they added three more signs on Homestead and SR-82, plus additional detour signs.

Now, some residents are happy to see the culvert is being taken care of. It’s expected to be repaired by September 7 — after that, the Lee County DOT has to fix the road, which could take another week.
