Lee County’s top prospect for county manager, Roger Desjarlais, negotiated a package worth $203,000, according to documents released this afternoon.
Desjarlais, Lee’s deputy property appraiser and former assistant county manager under Don Stilwell, became the commission’s top prospect after a national search that cost Lee up to $24,000.
The contract, Commission Chair Cecil Pendergrass negotiated, will go up for a vote tomorrow.
It provides: $182,000 in salary, $15,000 in tax deferred compensation and $6,000 a year for car allowance.
Desjarlais will also collect 20 vacation days and 18 sick days when he starts work.
The commission can terminate Desjarlais at any time without paying him severance, according to the contract.
