Lehigh Acres is a unique community, partly due to its history and partly due to its boom and bust existence, most recently from the designation as the #1 county in the nation in foreclosures in 2008. Lehigh Acres Community Initiative is essential to the success of the community because local government alone cannot correct the mistakes of the last several decades. The grass-root efforts that the Lehigh Acres Community Initiative promotes are necessary to lift up Lehigh.
This grassroots effort is to engage the community to collectively change both the image and quality of life for all in Lehigh Acres. We have been working as a collective unit since 2008 with many stakeholders from within the community as well as local and state government agencies. We have been tasked with many obstacles along our journey and always seem to be able to overcome and move forward! There are several areas that volunteerism is vital in the program. Our four subcommittees are committed and dedicated to the goals and objectives of the Initiative and always looking for residents to join them!
