Update: The Special Operations Unit responded and subsequently made entry into the home. Inside they discovered Romie Franklin Jr., (DOB 10-28-62) and Laverne James (DOB 4-13-65) both deceased.

A death investigation is underway at 216 Fireside Courtin Lehigh Acres.
Deputies got a call at 8:51 p.m. Monday night. One person was shot and taken to the hospital, but that person’s condition is unknown at this time.
Deputies believed there may have been hostages in the home and were treating this as a barricade situation until early this morning.
A SWAT team and over 35 deputies were at the scene trying to negotiate with the suspect. SWAT left around 12:30 a.m. and crime investigators arrived around 3 a.m.
Investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit confirmed around 5 a.m. that two people are dead.
Investigators say there is no reason to believe the community is in any danger at this time.
